Travel broadens the mind....
Seing Bill Bryson at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre on Sunday reminded me how funny he can be and how much I miss travelling around the world. So just now I was intrigued to find The Man in Seat Sixty-One... who will help you buy train tickets for almost any journey, much more helpfully than most of the other travel websites.

Isn't he great! I first found his website during the summer when I was fantasising about travelling to Egypt by train. I then discovered that it was not possible to go first class through Syria and gave up on the diea.
And before you think I'm a snob, I'll have you know I've roughed it with the best of them and feel no compulsion to rough it anymore!1
